About the icons
Service marks on this page are the official vendor icon sets, sourced from the mingrammer/diagrams project (MIT licensed) and rebuilt into this page by build.py. Where that set has no mark for a specific service β the OCI and Google collections are much thinner than the AWS and Azure ones β the cell falls back to the closest category mark, then to a plain provider colour chip. The section glyphs are original monoline drawings for this page.
Rebuilding it
Every icon reference lives beside its service name in the DATA block of src/index.html, as a path into the diagrams resource tree. Running python build.py validates each reference, downsamples the PNGs to display size, writes them to site/icons/ and emits the deployable page. A broken reference fails the build rather than shipping a missing image.
OCI marks ship in both standard and white variants; the page swaps them with the theme so they stay legible on dark.
Reading it honestly
A row means "reach for this when you'd reach for that," not "these are the same product." Rows marked β carry a caveat worth reading before you promise anything in a design review.
Service names move, and they moved a lot in 2026 β Google renamed Vertex AI, Dataproc, Composer, BigLake and Dataplex; Microsoft renamed Azure AI Foundry; AWS folded its migration services into AWS Transform. Names here were checked against vendor sources on 19 August 2026. Verify anything load-bearing before it lands in an architecture doc.
